The Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AFSA) advises all citizens traveling to Albania by their own vehicles with foreign license plates to purchase the border insurance policy only from authorized stores and licensed agents.

The Border Insurance Policy should contain the following insurance coverage features:

1. A unique policy serial number starts with the last two digits of the current year. (i.e: Year 2018 = 18xxxxxxx).

2. The border insurance policy is generated in a printed electronic form and in none of the cases handwritten.

3. The border insurance policy has a unique random number identifying the insurance policy in the online electronic registry of compulsory motor insurance including generated insurance features by the AFSA servers.

The Authority has launched a joint inspection with the State Police to verify the border insurance policy of the citizens entering the territory of Albania by their own vehicles. This inspection will be extended in the coming days as well.

Starting from November 1^st 2017, the reporting and identification of sold border insurance policies by insurance companies is generated in real time via the online electronic registry for the sales.

AFSA calls once again on all citizens to be cautious and verify their border insurance policy through the AFSA official website www.amf.gov.al  in the “Verify your Policy” section, following all the necessary steps or by sending your plate number to the following mobile number +355 69 40 60 671.
