AFSA publishes the Insurance Geography 2019

The Insurance Geography 2019 represents in details the distribution of gross written premiums, paid claims and the premiums per capita by prefecture.

The gross written premium geographical distribution shows that the insurance market is concentrated in the largest prefectures, such as Tirana by 59.63 % to total gross written premium volume in 2019, Durres (7.51%), Fier (5.29%), Shkodra (4.94%), Vlora (4.56%) and Korca (4.72%). This concentration trend has continued over a period of 12 years.

Another significant indicator of the insurance market is the insurance density. In 2019 this indicator was around ALL 6,168 per capita, with an increase of around ALL 275 compared to the previous year.

Regarding the premium per capita by prefecture, Tirana Prefecture has been ranked first with ALL 11,551 per capita, followed by Gjirokastra with ALL 5,962 per capita, Durres with ALL 4,535 per capita, Shkodra with ALL 4,332 per capita and Vlora with 4,234 per capita.

This report includes detailed information of paid claims during the year 2019, according to the prefectures, enabling the comparison of these indicators year-over-year. Similar to the previous year the major part of paid claims belongs to the prefecture of Tirana (74.84%), followed by the prefecture of Durres (6.78%).
