Financial Supervisory Authority publishes the Insurance Geography 2013

The Insurance Geography 2013 presents a detailed view of the distribution of gross written premiums, claims paid and the premium per capita, according to each of the county’s prefecture.

A close look at geographic distribution of gross written premiums shows that the insurance market is concentrated in the bigger prefectures, such as Tirana with 67.23% of total gross written premiums volume during the year 2013, Durrësi with 7.35%, Fier 4.30% and Shkodër 3.96%. This concentration trend has continued to be the same throughout the years of publication of the report Insurance Geography.

An important indicator is the insurance density, which presents the ratio of the gross written premium to the total number of population. In 2013 this indicator was about ALL 2,928.81 per capita, with ALL 271.60 less than in the previous year.

Regarding the premium per capita by prefecture, Tirana Prefecture is ranked the first with ALL 7,232.83 per capita, followed by Gjirokastra Prefecture with ALL 2,704.91 per capita, then Durrës Prefecture with ALL 2,264.66 and Vlora Prefecture with ALL 1,524.80 per capita.

This report also includes detailed information on paid claims in 2013, distributed by prefecture, which enables a comparison of these indicators with those from the previous year. Again the majority of paid claims belongs to the prefecture of Tirana with 60.57% followed by prefecture of Vlora with 6.86%.

This is the seventh consecutive year that the Financial Supervisory Authority introduces this report to its readers. It was published for the first time with the data of 2007 and has continued to be processed and enriched every year.
