Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority Holds Interinstitutional Group Meeting to Advance Chapter 9 of European Integration
The Financial Supervisory Authority, in its capacity as the lead institution for Chapter 9, “Financial Services”, convened a meeting of the Interinstitutional Group for the Preparation of European Integration, with the participation of representatives from the Financial Supervisory Authority, the Bank of Albania, the Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency, and the Office of the Chief Negotiator.
The meeting focused on coordinating activities related to European integration obligations, with particular emphasis on progress in implementing the measures set out in the Work Plan for Chapter 9, “Financial Services”, as well as on the next steps to the consultation, finalisation, and approval of priority legal and regulatory acts.
The General Executive Director of the Financial Supervisory Authority and negotiator for Chapter 9, “Financial Services”, Ms Adela Xhemali, underlined that the current stage of the integration process requires close interinstitutional coordination, detailed planning, and the timely addressing of issues related to fulfilling obligations for alignment with the acquis of the European Union.
Ms Xhemali acknowledged the substantial progress achieved since the previous meeting, emphasising that sustainable advancement under Chapter 9 depends not only on the formal adoption of legislation, but also on the quality of transposition, the coherence of the regulatory framework, and institutional readiness for the effective implementation of the EU acquis.
Representatives of the participating institutions discussed the launch of consultations with direct stakeholders, as an important preliminary step prior to the initiation of broader public consultation procedures.
